Webb has a wide portfolio of server cabinets. However, it is important to determine which server cabinet is ideal for your usage. In this article, we look into the key aspects of selecting a cabinet based on its size.
The height of server cabinets is denoted in "U" (Unit). The following rule is the measurement: "1U = 44.45mm".
For example, if you choose an 18U Server cabinet, you can place 18 units in this cabinet.
If you are purchasing a data center rack, the standard height is 42U and 48U.
Choosing the correct depth when purchasing a cabinet is imperative as the wrong choice can be very costly in time and money. The cabinet should have sufficient depth for housing network equipment, AV equipment, patch panels and provide extra space for cable management and other accessories if required.
Server racks can range from 300mm to 1200mm but are commonly seen at 600mm, 800mm, 1000mm and 1200mm depths.
Server cabinets are typically available in 300mm, 600mm, 800mm configurations. Regardless of which configuration you choose, the server cabinet will contain standard 19" mounting angles for rackmount equipment.
The main difference between a 600mm wide and 800mm wide rack is room for cable management. If you are using your server cabinet for patching as well, we would recommend you opt for an 800mm wide rack as this will have a lot more space for cable management.
